Perks of being a superfan

“Being involved in the Super Fans club gives you a whole new perspective of supporting your high school sports,” superfan captain Maggie Palmer said. “You get to bond with other students who share the same passion for friday night lights as you.”

Rain or shine, day or night, the Super Fans are an audible, competitive group of students who love cheering on their school’s sports teams. Season by season they pack the stands, and yell until their faces turn red. With some very committed former seniors leaving, the group is looking to regain some new recruits to their rowdy crew.

Entering the Super Fans is like joining a fraternity without the initiation: by joining their ranks you attain friends for life, and will be able to have a fun event to attend every gameday. Even for the non-sports fan, it is still a great place where one can go and hang out with friends. With a sizeable section of the school body going to the events, people of all different backgrounds are able to interact and have fun with their peers.

Many crazy moments entice students to take place in this quickly growing group. Some have done their homecoming proposals during games with the help of the organization, or have even done a slip-n-slide contest on wet bleachers during a rain shower.  Each game is also highlighted with a unique theme, some of which include tropical, jersey or neon, giving each event a fun spin to entertain the fans even further.

“The Super Fans was a great experience for me,” superfan alumni Jeff Kuhlmann said. “I got to be a part of a group of great people, who love to cheer on the Jaguars. I also got to yell as loud as I wanted, make some signs and posters and make up new chants that’ll hopefully be used for years to come.”

The group also sells Superfan passes, which will make anyone who purchases one an official superfan. This will allow them to get into every home football, boys basketball or baseball game for free. Passes can be purchased from Mr. O’Bryan in room 312 or at every home football game for ten dollars.

Whether one is introverted or extroverted, sports fan or someone just looking to have a good time, join the Super Fans, and find a place where all are accepted.
