Fallout 76

Platforms

  • Xbox One
  • PlayStation 4
  • Windows Microsoft

Release Date: Nov. 14, 2019

Bethesda’s “Fallout 76” is a science fiction survival role-playing game set in West Virginia in a post-nuclear 1950’s style world. All that is needed to know is that there are lasers, robots and a whole lot of radiation. This game is a prequel to all the other Fallout games in the series, occurring 25 years after the nuclear war has ended.

The biggest factor of “Fallout 76” that sets it apart from the rest of the other titles in the series is that Bethesda has decided to add a multiplayer feature to the game.

“I think that this can be a great addition to Fallout and add a lot of depth to the gameplay and bring a new audience to the game,” senior Tommy Melton said.

Considering that Fallout has been a single player experience since the beginning, this can be a little strange for the fans. Bethesda is doing something that they have never done before and it could either damage their reputation or revolutionize the fallout experience altogether.

Battlefield V

Battlefield V will be released on Nov 20, 2018

EA DICE’s “Battlefield V” is a first-person, World War II shooter with both online and single player capabilities. Battlefield’s biggest rival, “Call of Duty”, has decided to release their new game centering around futuristic combat. Instead of following the trend, developers decided to go with the setting of World War II. In “Battlefield V”, expect to fly around in biplanes, shoot enemies in historical armored tanks and use weapons that date to the 1940s.

EA DICE has also decided to add a battle royale mode, pitting teams of players against each other in a last man standing scenario.
Before its release, however, “Battlefield V” has already been under fire from gamers because of the loot box system as seen in their previous titles like “Star Wars Battlefront.” This system allowed players to progress in the game and obtain better upgrades without actually playing and just spending real money instead. In this newest Battlefield, EA DICE has announced that they have decided to get rid of loot boxes altogether.

“I think it was a great move to have loot boxes removed from the game,” Melton said. “It is unfair to have people get better upgrades than you just because they have spent more money on it.”

Battlefield V has a lot of competition and hype to live up to. Hopefully, EA DICE makes a title that they are proud to promote.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk will not be released until 2019

CD Projekt Red’s announcement of turning the beloved tabletop game, “Cyberpunk 2020,” into a video game created quite the buzz. The game is set in a dystopian future in a huge, corrupt metropolis known as Night City. Playing as a bounty hunter, look forward to blasting enemies with futuristic weapons, fight gangs that populate the streets and adding augmentations such as x-ray vision and super strength to characters. After the studio’s release of the extremely popular “Witcher” series, many wonders, if CD Projekt Red can succeed with “Cyberpunk” as well as they, did with “The Witcher.”

“It is really good and really bad that CD Projekt Red is following up with a new game from The Witcher. People are gonna be hyped because they know the company can put out great games, but people are going to be expecting it to be as good as previous titles,” Melton said.

Only time will tell if CD Projekt red can have lightning strike twice.
