Determining what kind of day one will have is no longer up to that individual but instead up to an elderly pug who loves sleeping in. The “No Bones” game is a popular trend on TikTok where #bonesornobones has 11.8 million views. This fortune-telling pug has quickly taken the internet by storm.

What is the no bones game?
The game is played by having a 13-year-old pug named Noodle trying to sit up every morning. If Noodle is able to sit up by himself, it is a bones day. If he flops back onto his bed, it is a no bones day. A bones day is supposed to be a day for risk-taking and action. A no bones day is a day for relaxation and self care.

Who created it?
Noodle is the star of these TikTok videos. He is a pug who enjoys sleeping all day and is gently roused by his owner, Jonathan Graziano, every morning to determine what kind of day everyone will have. The duo has a TikTok following of 4.6 million, as well as over 46,500 followers on Instagram.

Graziano never expected for his videos to get so popular. He believes that the reason people latched onto his content so quickly is because it provides a source of happiness during the pandemic compared to the negative impacts of social media, according to wbur.org.

How does it affect people?
People all over social media are centering their days around whether Noodle decides to have bones or not. Students may be looking forward to a bones day during a big test or a no bones day for a reason to stay inside and cancel their plans. One social media user found the motivation from a bones day to turn in their two week’s notice, and another blamed their broken coffee machine on a no bones day, according to npr.org.

“If anything, it makes me giggle at the beginning of the day,” sophomore Charlotte Baden said. “[Graziano’s] narrations are funny.”

The viral dog does not only affect teens, as many social media trends might. For example, the Minnesota Vikings posted a video on their official TikTok account about how they still won on a no bones day. Even politicians are getting in on the fun.

“Today is a bones day, and while every day is a great day to get your vaccination, today is an extraordinarily good day,” Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said in a TikTok video.

Noodle and Graziano post nearly every morning to offer a new alternative to daily horoscopes and fortune-tellers. From Instagram to TikTok, Noodle is already leaving a lasting impression on social media.
