The wrestling season kicked off in November and the team has been participating in a plethora of events, such as tournaments, duals with other schools, districts, state and the Gateway Athletic Conference, better known as the GACs.

“My favorite event so far has been the Wonder Woman,” junior Maria Ignatova said. “It’s a huge TriMet down in Columbia that’s harder than state. There are schools there that aren’t even Missouri schools.”

Within these events, athletes continue to work hard to accomplish their highest aspiration in the sport.

“I’m looking forward to hopefully placing in districts in the top four and then go to state,” senior Michael Higgins said.

While wrestling may seem intimidating, it can be a bonding experience with others and is just one of the many ways to get involved at school.

“If you’re looking to do something new, just try wrestling,” freshman Micah Barnes said. “The team really supports you and it toughens you up, it makes you stronger.”
