He would go on to win the MVP two more times in back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009, all according to baseball-reference.com.

Proclamation
Before the Cardinal’s final home game, the Cardinals had a retirement ceremony for Pujols and his teammate Yadier Molina. The two both were presented with gifts from the Cardinals, including paintings of the players, a silver plaque from Tiffany and Co. and a personalized Titleist golf bag and clubs. Also in attendance was St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, who presented the two players with proclamations stating that in the city of St. Louis, Oct. 4 and 5 will be Yadier Molina Day and Albert Pujols Day, respectively, according to si.com.
