Some of Oliva Rodrigo’s fans are elated due to the fact that she released a new album, “Guts,” on Sept. 7, 2023.

“I just was like, ‘Oh my God, I have to drop everything and listen to this,’” sophomore Jessica Ciolek said.

Impressions of “Guts” tend to be on the positive side and people struggle to decide if they prefer “Sour” over Rodrigo’s new album.

“[‘Guts’ is] a little bit better [than ‘Sour’],” sophomore Kelsey Holcomb said. “She’s working more on herself and not worrying about the guy.”

However, some fans argue that “Guts” is the inferior album.

“I think [‘Guts’ is] worse,” freshman Raleigh Chambers said. “It’s good, but I relate to more of the songs on ‘Sour’ and I like how the songs were written.”

With twelve songs on the track, “Guts” has one more song than “Sour.” To add, “Guts” is five minutes longer than “Sour,” with the newer album running for thirty-nine minutes.

A common sentiment among fans is that Rodrigo has improved and grown since her previous album.

“I think she’s grown a lot,” sophomore Hasini Darla said. “She built her whole fanbase [and is] really successful.”
