Breaking Down “Black Adam”
Dwayne Johnson to star in upcoming DC movie
American actor, businessman and former World Wrestling Entertainment champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star in the upcoming DC Comics film “Black Adam,” which is centered around a man who was given the powers of an Egyptian god nearly 5,000 years ago, then imprisoned. After he is freed from his tomb, he begins to unleash his idea of justice onto the modern world, all according to imdb.com.
“This character, this film, this universe, has been a gigantic passion project of mine for a very long time,” Johnson said in a first look video at the 2021 DC FanDome convention. “I have worked so hard on this project because it’s the kind of project that I know comes along once in a lifetime.”
The movie was originally supposed to be released in theatres on July 29, 2022. However, the date was pushed back three months to Oct. 21, 2022, along with other films that were delayed due to COVID-19 related production issues, such as “The Flash” and “Aquaman 2,” according to variety.com.
“Black Adam” will also feature actors Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, according to looper.com. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who has been known to direct mainly horror films such as “House of Wax” and “The Shallows,” according to imdb.com.
“I’ve never seen the likes of it before,” Brosnan said. “Having done James Bond for ten years and four films, nothing compares to this.”
Although not much of the film’s details have been released yet, DC fans certainly have something to look forward to.
