Getting into the Christmas spirit

It is a cloudy Saturday and snow is coming down as gifts are being wrapped by parents. Friends come over to bake cookies and watch movies all day long. The mood is jolly as everyone patiently waits for Christmas to come.

“I am so excited for the Christmas season because I love music, lights and movies,” sophomore Ryen Tindell said.

Whether they are passed down from family or made new each year, the jolly spirit can be enjoyed through a variety of traditions.

“Every year my family and I bake Christmas sugar cookies from my grandma’s secret recipe,” sophomore Katelyn Irvin said.

Among the seasonal activities are a variety of holiday-themed movies. Many incorporate these films into their traditions and use them to get into the spirit.

“My favorite movie is ‘Christmas with the Kranks,’” Tindell said. “It is so funny to watch them argue while enjoying the holiday”.

When the day comes, kids are waking up parents so gifts can be opened and flaunted all day. Family and friends are together as one to celebrate. Whether it is a first time celebration or an annual event, the holiday can offer something fun for everyone.

“Christmas is my favorite season,” senior Gabriel Ortiz said. “I am excited to be reunited with family and discover what Christmas is like in the US.”
