Fall sports include boys soccer, girls tennis, cheer, softball and, more popularly, football.
Every Thursday of a game week, the SuperFans post on X, formally known as Twitter, the time of the game, our competitors, where it is located and the theme, which can be exciting for students to participate in.
“Football season is my favorite to watch,” senior Hannah Entwistle said. “Seeing everyone put in so much effort into the theme makes it even more enjoyable.”
The SuperFans are a group of students who gather together and hold meetings to determine specific themes for the football games. An example is the homecoming game, the students came up with the theme blackout.
“The students are really in charge when it comes to them having their meetings,” SuperFan sponsor Nicole Blanc said. “I just put my two cents in when needed on picking themes.”
When it comes to school spirit, some students in the club have flags that they run up and down the bleachers every time the players get a touchdown. The flags have letters F, Z and W on them, plus a white and purple flag with the school logo on them.
“Being one of the people running with the flags and so much fun,” senior Brianna Enlow said. “I get a major adrenaline rush, especially when the band is there playing as well.”
During certain parts of the game, the band will play upbeat music that gets the parents and students excited and loud. The cheer and dance team also have performances to go along with the band’s music.
“After every touchdown, the band plays a specific song that the rest of the cheerleaders and I have a routine to,” junior Alex Adkins said. “It might be our favorite routine because at this point the audience is already so hyped because we just scored.”
Next football season, you can continue to keep up with the SuperFans and the activities they host with other sports such as boys and girls basketball.
