Taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana, 324 up-and-coming college athletes participated in the 2022 annual NFL Scouting Combine. This combine is a four day, invitation only event that is held as a way to prepare for the upcoming NFL draft. Representatives from all 32 NFL teams are in attendance including top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel. It is a way for scouts to see if these college athletes meet the medical, mental and physical needs of an NFL player, all according to nflcombine.net and operations.nfl.com.

Defensive tackle Jordan Davis
Senior at the University of Georgia, Jordan Davis displayed attributes of athleticism and hard work at this year’s combine. Weighing in at 341 pounds he received a time of 4.78 seconds in the 40 yard dash. This is the fastest time a player over 300 pounds has run the 40 yard dash since 2006. He then broke another combine record with a broad jump of 10 feet and 3 inches. This is the longest distance that someone over 300 pounds has jumped, all according to espn.com.

Cornerback Tariq Woolen
6-foot-4-inch cornerback Tariq Woolen attended the combine this year and impressed many that were in attendance. Woolen ran a 4.26 second 40 yard dash which was the second fastest score of this year’s cornerback group. From his performance it is predicted that he could potentially be a top 50 pick for the NFL draft, all according to nfl.com and detriotlions.com.

Wide receiver Calvin Austin III
Coming into the combine at a height of 5-foot-seven-inches and weighing 173 pounds, Calvin Austin III did not let his size define him. His broad jump was the farthest a man of his size has jumped since the creation of the NFL network in 2003, all according to nfl.com.

Quarterback Malik Willis
This 22-year-old athlete, Malik Willis, proved himself to be what it means to be an NFL athlete, impressing scouts with his deep throws and accuracy when playing. Scouts took notice of his interview skills and willingness to help others throughout the combine, all according to nbcsports.com.
