A Journey of Dance

Showtime; the curtain lifts and the music begins to play. Nerves rush over the body, but the music starts to take over. Varsity dancer, Camryn Bridges, takes on the powerful, yet elegant music as her brave dance moves intrigue every audience member. It takes time and practice to get every step right, and most dancers start young in order to get where they are today.

“I’ve been dancing since I was 9 years old, so not as long as most people, but actually it is kind of a long time,” Bridges said. “I started when my mom one summer asked if I wanted to go to a dance summer camp, so I went. When I got there, I was informed there was a competition team and the owner wanted me to be on the team. From there I just started doing competition.”

Being such a graceful dancer does not come easy to everyone, but Bridges has stayed committed to the art she creates. After many years of dance, she is still in love with the beauty of it and plans to continue it many years into the future.

“For sure I wanna keep dancing after high school, it’s already taking me pretty far and I think that after high school I will continue dancing,” Bridges said. “[I will] maybe go on tour with some big artist and dance behind someone or start my own dance company or do something that involves dancing.”
